This was a very sweet novel. With pictures on almost every other page. A very light and fun read, recommended for anyone who can read.

Mildred Hubble is the kind of person who has terrible luck. This is evident when she accidentally turns Ethel, the teacher's pet, into a pig.
After that things get even worse. But despite all her clumsiness and her talent for getting on the teacher's bad sides. Mildred means well.
She doesn't even snitch to save herself from getting expelled.

A very magical read.

My 5 year old is enjoying me reading this series to him. His 9 year old brother also thinks they are worth listening to! The material is light, funny and the language is appropriate. Wish there were more pictures

If Amelia Bedelia happened to attend Hogwarts, then you would be left with The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy. The Worst Witch follows the misadventures of Mildred Hubble who is a young witch with a knack for always getting into trouble despite her best intentions. When Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches is in dire trouble, it may be up to Mildred to save the day. With brilliant black and white illustrations, The Worst Witch is a fun, quick, family friendly read with plenty of comedic moments. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the charming world crafted by Jill Murphy and am eagerly looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Also, don’t forget to check out the classic film adaptation starring Diana Rigg and Tim Curry.

I liked the way that in the beginning, Mildred gets into trouble, but in the end she is a hero.

The pictures are fantastic - there aren't many pictures.

The story makes me want to read more. I have now started the next book
