A "fifth gospel" (the gnostic gospel of Thomas) is employed by this team of international scholars to bring out a "fuller picture" of who Jesus really was. This is the controversial "Jesus Seminar" volume.

I have some trouble with this book. After all, today would not Jesus be ID'd as an insurgent? A whistleblower (against the Roman rule)? A rabble-rouser and community organizer/activist, who should be preemptively arrested by the Obama Administration (or previous Bush Administration) they way they preemptively arrest other activists and community organizers? Should we really trust and respect the zealots, or should we not turn them in, similar to the recent Obama Administration dictates and rules for governmental workers to snitch on their fellow workers?

Observes the Bible from a 'scientific' perspective. What did Jesus really say? Keep in mind that for the first 20 years after Jesus'
death no words of His were written down (not until Paul's letters and the 'Q' document).
