Here's Lars in a longer story--Because the more of Lars there is, the more of Lars there is to love. Lovable Lars is just right for slightly older kids in this delightful chapter book that reveals how the little bear and Robby the Seal became pals--even though, as everyone knows, polar bears and seals aren't supposed to get along. Then a new and mortal danger comes along that threatens them both.... Young readers will want to try it on their own; children who can't yet read, but who are ready to sit and listen to a longer tale, will enjoy the story as a read-aloud.

The introduction to the series. Not only is much of the setting shown, but the reason for Lars' magnanimity towards others in the following books is described. The style is not as cute as the rest of the series though.

Our 3 year old adores these books. The pictures are superb and the stories are nice if a bit predictable.
