This book started out cute, funny, well-written, and innocent. But toward the end there were two scenes that bothered me: a scene with an adult providing liquor to kids, and a scene with kids attacking an adult. These two scenes seemed completely unnecessary, and they ruined the book for me. I'm a big fan of Susan Cooper's other books (esp. The Dark is Rising series), but not this book.
