I really like this whole series because it allows you to see the lives of these woman in a different way than history sometimes portrays them. You learn a lot about the time period without even realizing you are. For people who like historical fiction, or even people who don't, I would recommend this series.

In this book, and series just like this, you see history through the eyes of actual women. It's a really relaxed paced book plus you learn a bit about history at the same time!

After hearing only bad things about Marie Antoinette, it was interesting to read a story that is sympathetic to her, and gives one insight into what she may have felt and why she acted as she did. This doesn't fix the terrible injustices of poverty in France at the time, but makes the folly of the rulers more comprehendible.
