Not a very good book. Disliked almost each and every character. One or two scenes were well written but the rest was not enjoyable.

Excellent story, but one of Canada's most remarkable authors. HIGHLY recommend.

Laurence has a talent for making the reader feel the character's emotions.I'm not a single mom, so I can't relate to that part of the story, but I enjoyed the character's respect for the past.

I recently revisited this memorable book since I had read it as part of a university English course many years ago. With age, comes wisdom and a better grasp on Morag Gunn.
