Each volume is aimed for the adult buyer, who can use the book as a resource when they are involving kids in craft activities. Each volume has 26 projects. As a set they provide tons of fun for each week of the year! In addition, the inspiration for each project comes from a classic work of children's literature, enabling teachers and parents to encourage reading in addition to providing entertainment. Each activity includes information and a synopsis of the book that inspired it. The age range of books sampled varies from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Projects include: Silver snowflakes from the Snow Speaks by Nancy Carlstrom; Soft felt boxes from How Many Bugs in a Box by David Carter; Bouncing fuzzy spiders from Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani; Lace-wing butterfly barrettes from I Wish I Were a Butterfly by James Howe; A poinsettia wreath from Uncle Vova's Tree by Patricia Polacco; A milk carton gingerbread house from Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. The projects use relatively new materials such as polymer clay and fun foam, as well as more familiar materials such as felt, wire, and fabric. Easy-to-use, safe tools are employed, making the book kid-friendly. The projects are also designed to minimize any mess or extra clean-up time after the project is finished. Each volume is packed with 26 clever, attractive activities. Projects can be satisfactorily completed in an hour or less. Projects are safe and not messy.
