This is an interesting new series by a very prolific author. The series offers a lot of promise unfortunately the library system only has a few of the many books written by this author so if you want to read further in the retrieval series you will have to resort to amazon or used book stores.

This had many of the characteristics of a "Disaster movie." The beginning is introducing the people who will be most affected by the unfolding plot. Then the police detectives are introduced with their circumstances. Then the book takes off into a race against time to "save" the human victims from the devastating consequences of their actions taken in ignorance of the alien races we were cooperating with. Good challenges, good twists in logic to face off against the logic of the aliens. Very good writing once every one has been introduced. Interesting aliens.

A riveting crime novel of the future. This book should appeal to mystery and science fiction fans alike. The interaction between humans and diverse alien cultures is interesting and very problematic. The author develops a realistic look into a possible future, where compromise is most often the only route for diplomacy. What may appear as a simple misdemeanor to "our" race, may be a severe offense to others. Faced with the severity of extreme criminal sentences, some just choose to "disappear". Can't wait to read the second book.
