Excellent plot , characters and very active story lines with nice twists. Would have given it 5 stars but found the writer a bit too detailed in his descriptions -- such that I thought he was over using the details just to make the book longer and longer. Yet, he is an excellent writer and knows how to keep the reader's interest.

An epic conclusion to the Old Kingdom trilogy where finally all the backstory from Lirael comes into play. It was quite a thing to see Lirael and Sam adjust comfortably into their new positions (they grow up so fast sniff). Sure they were scared, and underprepared, with occasional doubts, but I loved the feeling of rightness that came with their roles in the quest to defeat Orannis.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. I mean it. This book was absolutely fabulous. A fantastic end to the trilogy. I hope that Garth Nix keeps writing about the Old Kingdom!

The final book in the Abhorsen trilogy follows a similar path to its predecessors. Quite good, but it's hard to shine in the shadow of Sabriel.
