Lynley Dodd is a genius of rhyme and introducing us to charming, but slightly naughty characters. Do your children a favour and read them all of her books over and over!

Fantastic book(s) and written right here in NZ!
This first one introduces us to some of the excellent characters that will reappear again and again throughout more adventurous outings.
The rhythm of the verse, the rhyme of the words and the lilt of the language make this book really enjoyable to read out loud and impossible not to smile.

Hairy Maclary is an icon in New Zealand children's literature and with good reason too. The characters are great (I especially like Schnitzel von Krumm with a very low tum) and the story ticks along with a lovely rhythm and rhyme. The finish of the story is delightful, I couldn't help but read again - straight away!

An introduction to all of the major characters of the Maclary series. In the course of the walk nothing in particular happens, and so this builds up our anticipation, which is cleverly fulfilled in the end.

Very cute book that my 2 and 4 year love. They especially like Scarface Claw, "the toughest tom in town" and when I read it really fast with all the rhyming.
