La Paglia is dealing with a loss and changing dynamics of his once quite planned life. All of us go through our 'winter solstices' in some way or form. La Paglia starts to realize nothing ever remains the same, even families. Allison Jenny is very good in this & I, too, enjoyed her performance.
The only thing that I found extraordinary in this film was the fact that La Paglia never once puts his arms around his boys, or calls them 'son', till the film's end. Writer's, director's, or actor's choice: I don't know. The film was still very enjoyable, and is a reminder that anyone can go through tough times.

A gentle, quiet film that explores the relationship dynamics between a widower and his two sons. I loved Allison Janney's acting in this.
