Great book for dog lovers and everyone else. Really enjoyed this book.
Another classic from Farley. Some of the Mutt episodes are more outlandish than anything you'll find in James Herriot's Yorkshire Vetinary's books! Farley writes as well as Herriot, too. He has a similar dry sense of humor with deadpan delivery. Those who love this must read "Never Cry Wolf" as well. A warning: many of Farley's books about the Canadian north are not at all humorous, though they give us a real insight into the impact of the coming of the white man to the New World.
I'd never read Mowat before but I love him now. I liked reading about life on the Canadian prairies during the depression years and Mowat's family life - so very different from my experience. I really enjoyed the life & times of Mutt and the family's treatment of him as a full member of the family and their acceptance of his quirks. I'll be looking for more of Mr. Mowat's writing.
its so popular that I had to put one on hold!
This well-written tale of a very unusual dog appeals to animal lovers but also gives an interesting glimpse into life on the Canadian prairie during the dust bowl years. A good introduction to the Farley Mowat body of work.
Delightful, fun, quirky and educational ... all wrapped up in a very readable format. I loved it!
How could one not laugh outloud with this book. Dog lovers all know a dog like this.
