Firstly, let me just say i am a HUGE Jackie Earl Haley fan. I was incredibly excited to hear he was doing this remake. And WOW was i disappointed!! It was HORRIBLE. Bad writing...stupid script. The idea was there and not bad as a premise. But ...BAD!!! Stay clear of this...

U can make a re-make of the Friday the 13th & Halloween movies because Jason & Michael wore a mask, so different actors playing those parts, u can't really tell....but, Freddy, are u serious?! The part that Robert Englund plays as Freddy, 1st: it's NOT a mask, it's FX makeup to fit the structure of Robert Englund's face, so there for some other actor playing that part, well, it just doesn't work. U can tell it's NOT the original actor, the actor that plays Freddy in this remake looks nothing like that original Freddy played by Robert Englund! That, & it's not as good as the original Nightmare on Elm Street. Rob Zombie's verison of Halloween on the other hand was great!

I love horror/thriller movies so naturally I was excited to see this and though it had some good components to the movie, overall it fell short. The new Freddie fails in comparison to the original. The original movie is much better.

Fair - A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) 95 min. Jackie Earl Haley dons the mask of Freddy Kruger to torment and reek vengeance on a group of teens. Sounds familiar? It is. This re-imagining of the character and storyline is as necessary as a $3 bill. The reason for Freddy's death all those years ago is explicitly revealed in this film; which transcends this character from sort of an anti-hero to just pure evil. Haley is not very effective as Freddy; Robert Englund has the voice and stature that makes Freddy "Freddy". Also, the facial make-up of Freddy looks almost like a mask purchased at Canadian Tire for Halloween. Overall, the film will most likely satisfy those that have a yearn for such a film but I found it same old, same old. And the very last scene made absolutely no sense at all.

Some movies are not meant to be remade. There is only one man who is fit to play Freddy Krueger and that's Robert Englund. Don't waste your time with this one, just watch the original.
