Good movie about pool sharks- directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.

Newman directed by Martin Scorcese. Tom Cruise in his best role ever in his career. How many sequels can pull it off 30 yrs after the original, and actually be better? This is a must see. And, the cinematography of the game made me start playing pool after I saw it in the theatre oh so many years ago. Who knew pool was exciting?

Of Scorsese's entire collection this is my favorite because it's so low-key. I love the psychological element/vulnerability in the acting, the memorable appearances by Iggy Pop and Forest Whitaker, as well as a befitting soundtrack. Color of Money has an intoxicating 80's aura down to cigarette smoke in every funky pool-hall. A hustler will eventually wind up getting hustled himself.

I did not like it, but it's always good to see Tom Cruise when he's acting well, and Paul Newman was a great actor. The movie seems very dated and I thought it was difficult to understand -- the whole idea of betting on sports is so foreign to me anyways, and that girlfriend of his, what was he thinking?

I know Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Martin Scorsese have made better pictures because I have seen them; in fact, I wish I had watched one of them instead. As for "The Color of Money"? The color has faded.

This is an excellent movie. It stands the test of time extremely well with strong performances from Cruise and Newman. Well written and shot well with a classic soundtrack.

The description of this movie hardly does it justice! Paul Newman plays "Fast" Eddie Felson, which is the continuation of the role he played in, "The Hustler", with Jackie Gleason, who played Minnesota Fats.
Fast Eddie was "taken out" of the game by a few ruffians in the first movie and now in this flick, he plays a liquor salesman who sees Tom Cruise playing pool and winning. He sees a goldmine in Cruise's character and they set off on the road to "fame & fortune". But as you would expect there are some "bumps" in the road. Tom showed off remarkably well in this movie as he tries to in most of his movies. It is a classic that I highly recommend.
