Elizabeth has been very brave in this story of her life. The nightmare of her abduction could have destroyed her future but she overcame and survived. Her faith is what helped in the ordeal of all those months. She almost lost hope when they moved to another state. But she was clever to trick them to go back where her home was. I enjoyed this wonderful true story. I wish her the best in her future.

Wow! I can't believe a 14 year old girl went though all of that. I would imagine someone who had gone though all of that would be depressed. It's interesting that the night she returned home she slept in her own bed......... I would probably go into my parents room plus I would want to assure my parents I was safe.

This book is extremely boring, not well written at all. I also found some parts of the story difficult to believe.

I am so glad that I read this book. I remember hearing about her kidnapping when I was youger, but it was so interesting hearing about everything from her perspective. I cannot imagine going through what she had to go through, she is such a strong person to be able to go through all that horror and still be able to have a normal life afterwards. She is an inspiration to everyone to be able to get back up on her feet after all of those troubled times.

The book is poorly written and does not go into great detail. The story is intriguing, but you can learn just as much by watching a documentary on Youtube. Save yourself a few hours.

Strong and encouraging book! Tastefully written. You get to see deeper into the Smart kidnapping and see how she was almost recused times before. Can't recommend this book enough! The message in the book changes your perspective on your personal life. She is never once hateful or negative.

A strong story from a very courageous woman who suffered the worst nightmare any one can imagine. What is infuriating is that Smart could have been rescued months earlier when she and her kidnappers showed up at the Salt Lake City central library and the police could not read through Brian David Mitchell's evasiveness. In the end, it was Smart's decision to go against her principles and manipulate her tormentors into going from California and back to Utah that proved to save her life and led to her rescue. The blunt conclusion is never to trust or to help strangers under any circumstances, for it was the family's previous generosity to one - Mitchell - that backfired in their faces horribly. And that police need to turn on their BS meter. They're as responsible for Smart's continued torture as Mitchell is. Bottom line is that she's a hero who refused to cave in.

The writing is not great, but the story is really interesting. She was fearful and strong at the same time.

I recommend listening to this book. Elizabeth is the narrator. What a horrible ordeal but a message of hope and gratitude, faith and prayers. I think this book can help many people in their healing process

I loved this book and Elizabeth Smart narrates her own story. I thought she tastefully talked about horrible things so a teenager could appreciate it. Maybe 14 years old and over unless they are super sensitive to being kidnapped. am impressed with her family and herself after going through this horrible ordeal. What an inspiration to America. My husband listened to a bit of the CD's in the car and wants me to renew so he can listen too.

As of this writing, I am twenty-five years old. I have been alive for 307 months. Nine of those months were pretty terrible. But 298 of those months have been very good. I have been happy. I have been very blessed. Who knows how many more months I have to live? But even if I died tomorrow, nine out of 307 seems like pretty good odds. Looking at it that way, I don't think I have much to complain about.
