I read this months after the first book when I ran out of things to read. Unlike most sequels, this not only is a worthy companion of the first book, it's actually far better.

If you were REMOTELY interested in the first book, give it a read.

I'm not sure what was different about this book than others I read, but I felt as if I were literally on the adventures with Blue and the gang. I felt myself living in the moments with them as they travel to Cabeswater, practically felt the sunshine and heat on my skin from the summer, like I could smell the mint leaves. It was a strange and intoxicating experience and made this book completely stand out. I loved it. It explored the power Ronan has to create things from dreams, it dipped it's toe in the water of Blue and Gansey's relationship, and it began climbing the mountain of explaining Adam's sacrifice and what it means. I love the new character addition (the Gray Man) even though at first I thought he was a nuisance, and I like the direction the story is going. Great read

I liked this book. I enjoyed seeing the world from Ronan's point of view. My favorite part of the book was when they visited his family home.

Maybe it's because I'm bias and I love Ronan Lynch, but this book was great and the character development in the book was beautiful to read.

It has been awhile since I read a book. And this was the best start to my summer reading. I look forward to reading the series.

Fantastic! I lovelovelove Ronan. The writing has some good elements of Terry Pratchett, Dorothy Dunnett, Neil Gaiman, SE Hinton, and the plot is insane in a good way. You must read Book One first. Kisses to whoever pencilled in grammar correction in MPL's copy - you'd think a publisher called "scholastic" would hire a proofreader. Book One was not as good, Book Three was worse, but Book Two here is everything I ever wanted. If it was standalone and this good, I'd award 5 stars meaning I recommend it to ANYBODY dead or alive, and judge them an idiot if they don't appreciate.

I finally picked up the second book in this series over a year after having read the first one and I was pleased with how easily I was able to pick up all the various plot threads. This book has a lot of different plot lines going on but they're deftly woven together for a compelling whole. With a novel that has multiple central characters it's inevitable to have favourites, but even when the narrative shifted to my less favourite characters I was still highly interested. I'll definitely be picking up the next book and I don't plan on letting as much time elapse between them as I did this time around.

I definitely enjoyed this just as much as the first one. There were a lot of great moments that took place, which pretty much excused the flaws I had with it. I really liked how it was focused more on Ronan (my favorite raven boy) than any of the others. We learn so much about him and the baggage he always has to carry around. I also really liked the new characters that were introduced and how we, at first, thought of them in one way and completely have different feelings about them towards the end. Hopefully, the next book is just as entertaining.

It was funny…how humorous she always appeared, how that smile was always just a moment away from her lips. You really didn’t see the sadness or the longing unless you already knew it was there. But that was the trick, wasn’t it? Everyone had their disappointment and their baggage; only, some people carried it in their inside pockets and not on their backs.

Noah slouched in. In a wounded tone, he said, "He threw me out the window!"

The Gray Man hated his current rental car. He got the distinct impression it hadn't been handled enough by humans when it was young, and now would never be pleasant to be around. Since he'd picked it up, it had already tried to bite him several times and had spent a considerable amount of time resisting his efforts to achieve the speed limit.

"So what you're saying is you can't explain it." / "I did explain it." / "No, you used nouns and verbs together in a pleasing but illogical format."

This book focuses its attention a little more on Ronan, who, like his father, can pull things out of his dreams and make them real. The team seems mysteriously stalled on its way to finding Glendower, and soon start to break apart under their own pressures. Adam and Blue's tentative relationship is floundering. Ronan is trying to understand and control his abilities -- as well as come to terms with his father's death. A mysterious hit man stalks the team, looking for Ronan even though he doesn't know what he can do.
