As usual, Victoria Holt's books are so, so good. She actually took time to tell the whole story. There are no sudden endings.

'The Shivering Sands' was a bit sad in places but the plot was good, mostly believable and a real mystery. I didn't guess the 'bad guy', which I usually do. I thought it was a different character. It kept moving; I didn't want to put it down.
