This book is very well written..but the movie theme gets to be tiring.
Unlike Brando Skyhorse, Jeanette Winterson or mary karr, uppal didn't spend much time with her mother. But she spent a lot of time thinking about her in aid of writing a book.Uppal seems to have gone to Brazil to produce this sad book, rather than building a relationship. Her mother seemed to have the same suspicions, and perhaps that is why she put up a wall. If this was a story about an absentee father, it might never have been told.
