Carole Shipley used to look forward to her wedding anniversary. But then a trip to Mexico for the occasion with her husband and friends ended in the unsolved kidnapping of her infant daughter, Samantha. Now, fifteen years after, divorced and isolated, Carole is forced to relive the kidnapping by reporters who call every year on the anniversary of Samantha's disappearance. However, this year when the phone rings, Carole hears the sweet voice of a girl claiming to be her long-lost daughter. Plunged back into the world of heartbreak, suspicion and questions that led the case to run cold so many years ago, Carole doesn't know what or who to believe. But when she starts to figure it out, she finds the answers dangerously close to home.

I began to read, and immediately - another scribe, from which will be made a television movie for the daytime. But as I continued to read it, it was not that bad and even started to like it.

This was an entertaining read similar to the events in Spain many years ago. I found the daughter, Michelle, really bratty and the mother, Caroline, with not much backbone but all in all it was a good story.

Even though the story is from the real life tragedy in Spain some years ago, I decided to give it a chance. I started to skip the alternate chapters of "how it happened", but even so lost interest very quickly.

Once you're aware that her 2-year old daughter was abducted from a hotel room while she and her husband were enjoying themselves in a nearby restaurant, there's really nowhere else to go. Perfectly predictable - I'd pegged either the husband (always a bad guy in her novels) or the brother to be the perpetrator of the crime.

Haunted by the kidnapping of her infant 15 years earlier, Carole Shipley receives a phone call from a sweet-voiced girl claiming to be her lost daughter, an event that plunges Carole back into a world of heartbreak, suspicion and questions. By the New York Times best-selling author of Someone Is Watching.

This was not unpredictable, especially if you're not new to Joy Fielding. But it was still fun to read (as fun as a kidnapping story can get).
