Ben is a high-school teacher who meets Lindsay who has a successful career in business. Ben and Lindsay don't appear to have much in common on the surface, but they hit it off and are soon involved in a serious romance. But when spring rolls around , Lindsay becomes aware of the true love of Ben's life - the Boston Red Sox. Despite the team's lamentable record, Ben has been a fiercely loyal Red Sox fan since childhood and Lindsay finds it hard to compete with his passion for baseball, while Ben is forced to choose betwen the obsession of his youth and the enthusiasms of a responsible adult. Fever Pitch was shot in part in Boston during the 2004 baseball season, which to the surprise of the filmmakers saw the Red Sox winning baseball's worlld series for the first time since 1918.

I am extremely glad I didn't rent this because I caught it on Oxygen instead. I watched about ten minutes of it, and that was MORE than enough. It was absolute garbage! I am shocked that there are so many favorable reviews for this trash. One scene in particular involved Jimmy Falon's friends giving him a shower (or so it seemed), and I was so offended by it that I turned it off. I'm not a Red Sox fan, but being that they have now won TWO World Series (in 4 years), the movie now seems outdated. Because it was on a basic cable station and not HBO or Showtime, I shudder to think of what this movie would have been like in it's entirety.

This sports movie stars Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon, a couple who is really in love until baseball season starts and Drew’s character (Lindsey Meeks) can’t understand why Jimmy (Ben Wrightman in the film) loves the sport so much, as a result threatening their relationship. I was able to relate to Lindsey because I for one don’t like sports or sport movies, which made me concerned about watching this movie. By the end, I felt like this is the type of movie that you would watch with someone who loves sports if you are someone who hates them, so that you can find common ground. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Cute movie, sadly the main character is a Red Socks fan, but I won't hold that against him too much. (Go Yankees!!) :)

was much slower paced than expected. All the funny parts were in the preview.
