Volume 2 was fantastic and I'd go as far as saying it's better than volume 1. In this installment we get to learn more about Maika's past and the demon within her. I really appreciated her development and it was a lot of fun to meet new exciting characters. The art is as beautiful as ever and the story was super engaging now that we've already had the introduction on how the world works.

It says this book is located in the media center under graphic novels but I can never seem to find it. I really need to know what happens next!!?? :(

The story continues from volume one and we (and Maika) finally begin to get answers about her mother and the demon. The artwork is breathtaking.

Beautiful artwork and complex world building and after struggling with the first one I wasn't sure I would keep going. So upon finishing, despite the fact that I still had no idea what was going on half of the time, I will continue with this series. Just don't ask me why, I'm not sure.

The most gorgeous artwork I've ever seen in a graphic novel, volume one was nominated for an Eisner and won a Hugo. This edition continues the story and Mariko Half-wolf's quest to find answers about herself, and her dead mother's secrets. Politically and historically dense. With talking, magical cats!

Monstress is one of the best stories I've ever read, not just one of the best graphic novels. I've been recommending volume 1 far and wide since its release last year, and I'm glad to say that with the addition of volume 2, my recommendation will only be more emphatic. The story is original and immersive, and the art is so detailed and exquisite that I spent time lingering over every page before turning to the next. I have no doubt that I'll be rereading both volume 1 and 2 while waiting for the third installment!
