Pleasure is darker and fiercer than its predecessors. I’ve got some nitpicks—”Century”’s spoken interlude is a particular bust—but on the whole this is a surprising and mostly fulfilling evolution for a tremendously talented musician. The final three songs particularly do it for me.
This is a tired, disappointing bunch of dull songs with minimal, tired instrumentation.
I am a Feist fan but there's nothing here to warrant listening to more than a minute of each song. At that point your mind starts to wander. After 2 or 4 songs, you realize that the music hasn't held your interest.
Feist's other albums held my interest but this one is just plain weak. It isn't anything like her other albums.
It's been six years since Feist's Metals; ten since The Reminder, and I can assure you that this latest opus, Pleasure, is worth its' wait!
