Will I believe Arnold Schwarz played a good and different role from his usual action movies. But this is a sad movie, one which I would not recommend.

A man irreparably unhinged by grief determinedly seeks closure.
Not a film you want to watch repeatedly, although a few scenes boast strong dialogue.
Arnold in one of his dark, bitter roles.
He can act but unlike Dwayne Johnson, another movie hunk, he is unfortunately saddled by a strong accent and age is catching up.

disgusting, low level noise that started at the very beginning and went continuously till the very end. Gave me a headache. Movie could have ended in fifteen minutes. Ridiculously slow, didn't care about the characters, except you hated the absolutely, unforgivable stupidity of the killer. Hate the waste of time these stupid movies steal from us.

I was expecting an action movie, but enjoyed this drama. Well acted by Arnold. A story showing the emotional turmoil of two men affected by one tragedy.

I came to this as a result of searching the library catalog for available films of Darren Aronofsky, whose work seems at great pains to deny anything redeeming about humanity. Captivating flowers of evil. I didn't trouble myself to make note of the role he played here, which was producer. I suspect there was a fortuitous chemistry between him and Arnold who had reason to polish his reputation as an actor. They've thrown a lot of things into the mix, leaving out anything to cheer about.
This is one case where 'based on real events' is significant. I've watched the trailer for the Russian film, 'Unforgiven', which apparently tells the same story; hard to tell if they have made a more compelling film or not.

It is worth going to the wiki entry for Vitaly Kaloyev; here is some of that:

'I don't really take offense at people who call me a murderer. People who say that would betray their own children, their own motherland… I protected the honor of my children and the memory of my children.

He's nobody to me. He's nobody to me. He was an idiot and that's why he paid for it with his life. If he'd been smarter, it wouldn't have been like this. If he'd invited me into the house, the conversation would have happened in softer tones and the tragedy might not have happened'.

Rated 7/10. Aftermath is a different kind of movie for Schwarzenegger. Here he plays a purely dramatic role. Yes, it is quite dark and depressing, but he shows that he has pretty good acting ability, as opposed to his action shows.

Kudos for trying something that departs from his usual. He's getting older now, and it's good to diversify your efforts.

I think next time he should try a comedy, along the lines of his previous Kindergarten Cop.

what a tragedy!

The true story this was loosely based on makes for fascinating reading. Unfortunately, the film goes off into Arnoldland and plods along to its inevitable conclusion. Arnold should stick to shooting aliens and blowing up terrorists.

This movie was so boring almost fell asleep. I get it Arnie was trying more of a dramatic role than action, (which I did not realise until watching this), however the movie builds and builds slowly until not much. The acting was good by the supporting actor. You don't really feel much for Arnold's character or his need for retribution/revenge.

This could have been such an engaging movie, but I feel like there was some careless handling of the script or maybe the editing.

After analyzing all the information from the black boxes, testimonies from
the people involved, evidence found on the sites and all the other data made available to the press, we can arrive at some conclusions... ... First, there was only one air traffic controller in the control room managing the airspace.
One year ago we were struck by a tragic event. Many lives were lost unjustly, incomprehensibly and unexpectedly. But today the spirits of the people we lost are somewhere else, watching us. And they can see that on a day like today we remember them and pay tribute to them. And to keep this memory alive, to keep it ingrained inside of us, and in this place, today we inaugurate this monument, this memorial to the victims.
I would like for someone to say that they're sorry for killing my family. I want the company to apologize.
No one has said they're sorry.
No one had apologized!

Yeah, I'm waiting for a flight and it says it's delayed, but there's no eta. It's ax 1-12.
- Ax 1-12?
Yeah taking off from Kiev, with a lay over in Frankfurt and New York.

The only thing is that nadiya and olena are there. They can't leave. So I go there and visit them, because... They can't go anywhere.
Well, today let's try to focus on the positive feelings you've had this week.
-Come... I was really hoping I could just get a refill on my prescription.
On those moments when you feel at ease... Maybe doing something you find satisfying. It may seem silly, but makes you feel good. Think about your daily routine. At home, places you go, people you see on a weekly basis.
-I really just want the prescription.
A stroll, a TV program, talking to a friend.
-Look, I don't feel good strolling or eating, or seeing anyone, or talking to anyone. So just give me the fxcking pills, please. Or I'll go down the street
and rob the goddamned pharmacy.
