Quite possibly the worst parenting memoir ever written. A mother writes of the difficulties of raising her autistic son while mocking, belittling and denigrating every interest he has. Towards the end of the book, she talks of her desire to have him sterilized (!) When called out on her blatant ableism and endorsement of eugenics (yes, the same policy pushed by Nazi Germany) she plays the victim (even succeeding in getting negative reviews deleted from Amazon ) and denies any opportunity for open dialogue with the autistic community. Show your allyship by joining the boycott.

This book directly advocates eugenics and biological genocide of autistic people, both of which were policies directly endorsed by Adolf Hitler.

An excellent read for ASD parents, teachers, caregivers. Judith writes with love and humour. We still have much to learn on this topic, and Judith provides us with many tidbits of new info, references recent studies and research. Uplifting, honest, and hopeful.

This is, quite possibly, the most disgusting book to be published within recent memory. It violates her son's privacy, encourages abuse of autistic children, and the author herself routinely insults autistic adults.

It saddens me that a library within Chinook Arch has ordered this trash and is propagating hatred toward persons like me.

Authentic voice of the author comes thru as uplifting, hopeful but serious vignettes of life with twin teenage boys one of whom is on the spectrum.

Violence: This book promotes views of autistic people as being less than allistic people and thus worthy of forced sterilization.

Violence: This book promotes the forced sterilization of autistic people and negates the idea that autistic people have basic human rights. Before reading this book, please google some reviews written by actually autistic people to get a clearer picture about why it's detrimental to autistic people.
