Pierce Brosnan in a juicy, complex role. This film is worth it for his work alone. Jackie Chan does his best serious acting, but Brosnan dominates every scene. Plenty of action, and none of the usual comic element of Chan's output. Very satisfying!

The movie was fine. It felt like a B-run movie, but it was definitely different. Great to see Brosnan as a bad guy and Jackie not doing his kung-fu shtick. Weak story line, and typical bad guys that just show up on screen to killed off. Almost like a documentary movie.

Based on the previews, I was thinking the focus of the movie was on Jackie Chan exacting his revenge on his daughter's killers. Unfortunately it turned out to be more of a side-story. The acting was good but the overall story dragged a little. Not my favorite.

Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan were very good. The movie itself was just ok.

Jackie Chan still has some moves but this is not your usual Chan action flick. This film is a more mature film with a slower, deliberate pace but plenty of back-stabbing and action. You don't see Pierce Brosnan in such a role very often. Also, my wife liked this movie, so it must be good. LOL.

Politically-set mystery suspense revenge film. Once was enough for me.

Straight dramatic action film featuring an unlikely pair in Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. No laughs whatsoever which is really different from the usual Jackie Chan type movie. But Jackie pulls it off as a distraught father trying to seek justice for his daughter who dies in a terrorist attack. Do people know not to mess with Jackie when he's on a warpath. The people in this movie sure don't. Some solid serious acting by Jackie and Pierce who plays his foyle.

Started out promising...but soon goes down hill. Couldn't finish.

I have enjoyed many Jackie Chan films a lot, but this one is a bit of a slog to get through. It is very grim, very bleak. None of the main characters are likeable. Even Jackie Chan, who is usually so charismatic, is very somber and stony here. He plays a vigilante, out for justice for his murdered daughter, but he basically turns into an unlikeable terrorist himself. The movie was interesting enough, with some twists and turns, but it was not really fun at all and got pretty nasty in the end.

This film is sort of throwback to the 1980s when the IRA was a cookie-cutter villain. The plot here is built around a faction of the IRA resuming its terror bombing of London. The character played by Jackie Chan is a restaurant owner whose daughter is collateral damage. He happens to have been a U.S. Special Forces trained soldier of the R.V.N. He goes on a killing spree. Pierce Brosnan plays a feckless IRA leader who is trying to have it both ways. The whole IRA thing seems purely formal, an obligatory mechanism to enable a revenge picture.

Quan Ngoc Minh: Politicians and terrorists, they are just 2 ends of the same snake.

Quan Ngoc Minh: What's the difference?

Liam Hennessy: There is a difference.

Liam Hennessy: One end bites and the other doesn't.

IRA politics and terrorism are different ends of the same snake. Whichever end you grab, you still grab a snake.
-It makes a great deal of difference which end you grab, because one end will bite.

How long have you been in this country, Mr. Quan?
-Since 1984. I'm a British citizen.
You were born in Guangxi, China.
-Yes. I'm Chinese Nung. I work in Saigon after the war. We escaped to Singapore. Then we immigrate here.

There's a lot of support for their actions amongst the younger ranks.
-Hotheads. Hotheads who don't remember, or know any better.
You were once one of those hotheads, Liam.
-Aye. Long ago, when it was the only way. And what did it give us? More graves than I care to remember.

-Affirmative. About 60 years old.

Christ Almighty, are you dumb and blind? An old man making fools out of the lot of you, and he's still running around out there, for God's sake. You are four men. Four.
