Just caught this new series on Masterpiece Mystery on our local PBS station. So well written!!!! Yes, there is a Season 2, and if you liked Season 1, hold on to your hats! It is extremely emotional. Can't wait for Season 3 (according to The Guardian, it is in the works!) Love DCI Cassie Stuart. Ditto to everything written in the review below. So refreshing.

This is a very, very, very good new series. It has a great group of people portraying cops, suspects, and the peripheral characters. Nicola Walker's role is a good example of being a leader via competence and respect rather than through screaming and yelling as in the series "Vera". The cops were not the usual group--the crusty veteran that resents the female boss, the newcomer to CID, the ladies man, the bent cop, the old guy who cuts corners resulting in the arrest of an innocent, the smarmy administrator that demands way to much, etc. All the officers just did the job they were assigned by the the boss without gripes or complaints. To top it off, there was not a single love scene between the boss cop and a subordinate like so many series seem to stick in there. The plot kept me guessing until the last episode due to several logical suspects. I think it also had a message--even long-ago actions can have terrible consequences years later. If I had to make a complaint, it is that there were only 6 episodes. Assuming there will be a season 2, I hope the writers can stretch it out to maybe 8 episodes and still keep it interesting. I look forward to a Season 2 for sure. Oh, for all you that like to see a strong female leader, you will find one here.

I have been watching this on PBS and it is very well written and very diverse in its story line. I have enjoyed watching it

Masquerading as a police procedural, Unforgotten soon sheds its nominal guise, revealing itself as a cultural diversity anchored, race equality promoting, sexual orientation elevating (reviled age disparate relationships excluded), family values engendering smorgasbord. Framed to appeal to proponents of the current societal groupthink, it will please viewers whose day isn't complete without a sermon from the thought police. Case in point, the crimes and transgressions being investigated took place in the '70s, which are vilified in the series as an era of rampant miscreants running amok. It was also the last decade free of political correctness.
