Spenser is an enjoyable character, and his dialogue is amusing. He investigates the murder of a wealthy man Smith, whose widow is a young socialite who is not very bright. Not sure what plan to follow, Spencer interviews people on the Smiths' social list, and each one is murdered after the interview. There is enough variety of suspects to keep the book interesting, and there's a twist to the ending, but the body count is high.
