This book reviews itself. No really: one of its poems includes this comment on itself, "this odd collection of jazz riffs, pop-art jokes, religious kitsch and muffled prayer". It's not great poetry- but Cohen himself admits it. People dismiss his honesty as becoming self-deprecation. But damn, he's a past master of irony: "I never got the girl, I never got rich, follow me." A very canadian minor poet.
