I really liked this book on some levels, but on others, not so much. Written from a teen runaway girl, I thought the author really captured it most of the time, but not all. I didn't like how it was all really muddled in time, but I suppose that's how she would have written it. A nuclear meltdown occurs in Vermont (the Northeast kingdom), and Emily, the heroine of the story, runs away from the rescuers and her pampered life. Her life degenerates into a struggle for the basics. Sex for money, drugs, cutting, stealing, lying about everything: I didn't like so much, and didn't really find believable, but I know it could be. Saving, or at least trying to save, a 9 year old runaway boy, also, not believable at that point. Going back to her house to find her dog, is very believable. written for YA, but I don't think my 15 yr old daughter would like this
