How to Make America Great Again

I am someone who voted for Donald Trump and I can say this is a very basic book with not much going on in it. My biggest takeaways were 1) Donald Trump is a master manipulator of the media. He genuinely knows he can troll and beat them at their own game and use it to his advantage. and 2) He understands China is our biggest competitor on the global stage and will attempt to undermine us at every level, besides militarily, to become the #1 world superpower. These takeaways come from two chapters; the media and foreign policy (the only ones genuinely worth reading at imo). The man makes a lot of great, common-sense points that other politicians are too afraid to admit or say, but this is also clearly a book trying to help get him elected and/or sell copies on the side. Meaning he talks a lot about how bad things are and how only he can make it great again i.e. your typical politician trying to get elected spiel. There's not much policy here, but he admits as much and the most important idea he gets across is America is still the greatest country on Earth and we should not be selling ourself short with other nations. He wants America to get the best side of a deal, while being aware if we walked away from the negotiating table it would hurt us to some extent. His rationalization though, which I think is a legit one, is that America can survive and the other countries have far more to lose than we do. The man does love himself and loves to talk about how great his accomplishments are. He writes the same way he speaks, which is to say comical and ostentatious. Still, you can learn a bit about the man from this short book and at the very least better understand what a natural, and incredibly talented politician he is. Whether that is good or bad for the country remains to be seen.
