The Iron King is about a Girl named Meghan Chase. Growing up she has always felt different and never quite fit in. This book is about when a dark stranger watches her from afar and her only friend starts to be protective of her. Her life changes when she discovers she is the daughter of a fairy king and has a huge part in an everlasting war. I really enjoyed reading this book and totally going to read the other books in the series. The book has so many details. I just wish this book had more points of view in the story, but other than that it was amazing. The plot of the book got very interesting as more characters were introduced. I was able to feel what the characters were feeling through the explanations provided by the author. This book was so entertaining and i absolutely loved and told all my friends to read it. I would definitely give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to teenagers aged 13-18. - @terrificbooklover of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library Wow. Wow. Wow. That book was AMAZING. I absolutely adored it and am extremely surprised to read all the bad reviews for this book. Julie Kagawa writes a thrilling and funny novel, originally published in 2010 and I can’t believe I didn't read this sooner. The Iron King is based on a young girl named Meghan Chase. Her life changes when she discovers she is the daughter of a fairy king and has a huge part in an everlasting war. Now she will learn how far she will go to save those she loves and if she can trust her heart at the same time. Well, overall I would give this book 5 stars for sure !! Although this book is mostly YA fantasy, it includes comical moments and hints of romance. And awee i absolutely love ASH, even with his ice heart. “Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.” - @bibliophile of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Iron King, written by Julie Kagawa is the first book in her series, The Iron Fey. This novel follows the story of Meghan Chase, who plunges into a world of fey, but it is not your average fairy tale. Through her writing, the author showcases a multitude of classic stories including faery tale characters. After reading this book, I can see that it is directed towards a specific audience as it carries a strong romantic story, along with action and mystery. I would recommend this novel and series to anyone above the age 13, as it is targeted towards teenagers and young adults, as well as fans of the classic faery tales. Overall, I would rate this book a 4/5 stars for the creativity and page turning in every chapter. - @Because_Logic of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library This was thrown at me from a friend who really enjoyed it. By that I mean she loved this with a passion. Reading through it, I could sort of see why. The motives behind the character's actions were (mostly) reasonable and relatable, which helped me read along and understand a lot that was happening, even if most of it made no sense. Just imagine yourself being told one day out of the blue that faeries existed. Many would laugh it off or look at the speaker with an air of dismissal. Getting into the whole World behind the curtain was very interesting for me, a person who has never stepped into this realm at all, which was quite detailed. 5/5 Stars - @Siri of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
