This novel is a quick read as it is short - 233 pages. The storyline is compelling told from the perspective of two characters, one, an Italian male musician, living during WWII, and the other, an American female musician. Gerritsen turns her story with the female musician into a psychological thriller so its hard to know what is "true". The other story of the Italian musician is based on fact as to the fate of Jewish Italians in WWII. Gerritsen brings these two unlikely elements together for a page turning story. Quite different from her Rizzoli and Isles novels.
