I Am Malala

How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World (Young Readers Edition)
Aug 30, 2015
One of my personal heroes is a girl named Malala Yousafzai. She is a young Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for protesting against women being denied education. She is a very inspirational girl who has dedicated her life to standing up for women's rights and the right to education. She has received many well deserved awards such as the Nobel Peace Prize. This book is her auto-biography of her hard journey. Not only does it shed light on her struggles, but the struggles of women worldwide. It show the importance of standing up for yourself as well. This is why I believe the title of the book: I AM MALALA fits so perfectly. She does not let anyone else decide who she is or what she is worth. She is the only one who can do that, this is something everyone should take to heart as well. This book, along with its amazing story, is well written. It was not hard to follow or misinterpret. The writing also flowed from chapter to chapter. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 13, because of some of topics discussed. But it should be read by everyone because of the importance of these issues. Both the discrimination of women and the lack of free speech in many countries. Overall this book was an interesting, informative and inspirational read. Her passion and courage really shines through in this book, thus causing the reader to feel the same way. This book is definitely a must for anyone.
