WOAH. Lots of questing and danger and dragons- I'm sorry, DRAKES (that are really dragons) - especially once you get past the character intros and world intros and all that good stuff. This one was definitely a monster of a book, and the detail that went into the planning and writing can't be overlooked. An epic fantasy novel, to be sure, and a series that I'm going to follow. Although this was an enormous book and I struggled to keep my interest going at times (SO MANY PEOPLE. SO MANY PLACES) I did enjoy this, and the ending was AMAZING. SO GOOD. My only other complaint is that I wish the drakes had gotten better names. Like, even How to Train Your Dragon gave the dragon types names. It's like Ryan put so much work into giving these 1000 characters crazy names that when he got to the drakes he was like, 'Nah. Red, Green, Black. That's good.' How boring though. Come on. Anyway, I did still like it, and I would like to see where the next installment takes us. Because this was definitely epic.
