As is evident, Cleeves has bifurcated the Shetland series: the initial 'color' Fran phase, to wit, Raven Black, White Nights, Red Bones, Blue Lightning; the subsequent 'classical element' post-Fran phase, namely, Dead Water, Thin Air, and just published, Cold Earth. One need not be a scholar of ancient Greek philosophy to hazard a guess as to the key term in the next Shetland series novel's title. By the way, the latest offering is an average, but quite readable, whodunit.
