Ah, Maine, "America's Tailpipe". The Saco, river of choice for flotillas of inebriated, puking college louts. Smoggy, perspiration pumping, ninety-degree-plus days abuzz with deer flies (the piranhas of the air), and four foot water snakes making a home in one's canoe. Let's welcome the newest interlopers, wild boar, engines of destruction whether targeting flora or fauna alike. Then there's parasitic infestation of the human kind: rural slumlords. Doiron's caustic observations in Knife Creek must send the bureaucrats at the state tourist office into an apoplectic fit.
